Sorry True, nothing about raw fish appeals to me, and miso soup, like green tea, just tastes like hot water to me except at Benihana's which has a decent oniony tasting miso soup. I like shumai and gyoza appetizers, teryaki / hibachi steak, chicken, shrimp, scallops or lobster with grilled fresh veggies, seaweed salad with sesame dressing and anything with ginger sauce, can't get enough cold salad with ginger dressing, yummy! Oh, and although I haven't had it in many years, I do remember enjoying the taste of plum wine - I think it was either Akadama or Gekkeikan. Never been skydiving either. I have never had a pet (or wild) bird perch on my finger. I can certainly understand your avoiding raw fish due to the texture, however, you really need to try real Miso Shiru. I know what you are describing and I hate it. Instant and tasteless with tiny little pieces of tofu. Good miso (red or white) will look alive and will appear to churn in your bowl. It will have wide strips of nori [seaweed] and big chucks of soft tofu. As far as ume shu, both brands you mention are inexpensive and common in America. They taste okay and are overtly sweet. The intensity of aged ume shu is unbelievable. It's dark amber in color and viscus. On this trip I brought back some ume shu that was aged at least 7 years. I shared a little with a neighbor in Japan who was a bit hesitant because he said he gets drunk very easily. He finished the glass and tried to lick out what was left. Great umeshu is not too alcoholic. Interesting pieces of trivia about Japanese plum wine... It is not wine nor is it made from plums. 'Ume' means 'plum' in Japanese, but the 'Japanese plum' is actually a type of apricot and ume shu is an infused spirit not a wine. I'm not the biggest fan of ocha [Japanese green tea], I agree with you. If you ever attend a real Japanese tea ceremony you might be very surprised at what you find in your tea bowl. It will be green tea that will be very green and nearly as thick as paint. The drinkers part of the ceremony... Bow and place the bowl on your left palm. Pinch the opposite side of the bowl and turn it three times clockwise until the opposite side is facing you. Admire the bowl. Bring the bowl to your mouth three times drinking down the tea. Reverse the rotation of the bowl three times so the bowl is in its original position. Gently place it on the table and bow in appreciation. Someday I'll take you to a nice Japanese restaurant with a Japanese chef. I'll only ask you to try at least one piece of fresh toro. It will seem to melt in your mouth like butter. As with other ethnic cuisine, don't judge it based on imitators. As you must know, real aged Italian sauce is way better than the Ragu stuff you get in most restaurants.

I never walked a tightrope either. I have never gone diving. I actually prefer snorkeling to SCUBA. If you ever go to Hawaii be sure to visit Hanauma Bay.

Thanks for the tips on Japanese food/drink True. The miso soup you described is light years from what I've encountered - especially the red one, never saw that anywhere. I never knew plum wine was actually apricot, who woulda thunk it? I'd be interested in tasting a better quality brand since I did enjoy the taste of the less expensive ones. One day I'll take you up on your offer and I'll even be adventurous and try a piece of fresh toro too. Do you eat it plain or do you put a dab of wasabi or dip it into something like seseme/soy sauce?
Been to Hanauma Bay - beautiful place. I also love the beaches in Bermuda. Beautiful crystal clear water and you can see all the pretty colored fish swimming around. I never tried snorkeling though - too afraid of encountering something scary like a shark.
I have never been to either Disneyland or Disney World.

I've been to Disneyland so many times, it is not any fun anymore. It's only about an hour's drive away, and we used to go every year during the summer. Everything costs an arm and a leg, and there are so many people everywhere that you can hardly breathe.
I have never done any rock climbing up a sheer cliff.

Everything costs an arm and a leg, and there are so many people everywhere that you can hardly breathe. I have never done any rock climbing up a sheer cliff. I just went to Tokyo Disneyland this summer and have been to Disney World in Florida. I remember as a child driving down the highway near Disneyland and seeing sign after sign saying things like, "Are you thirsty?"..."Hot isn't it"...etc. It was marketing for a highway business. I loved rockclimbing in the California Sierras. I've done belaying (with someone holding a rope), 'bouldering' (don't fall), and with chocks (metal pieces placed into cracks) and other types of hardware. The equipment is far more sophisticated today than it was then and much safer. We tied our own harnesses from webbing, used locking carabiners and D-Rings with brake bars and prusik knots instead of using figure eights, ascenders, 'friends' or the other modern gizmos that they have today. I've done Australian repelling (repelling face down) and long traverses. Used to repel down a 160 foot cliff with one hop and then all the way to the bottom. Had to wear two gloves and the gloves would be hot & smoking (literally) at the bottom. I've never ridden in a hot air balloon basket.

Me neither, really, although I did enjoy playing beach volleyball as a teen - a good way to get an all-over tan without just laying there and letting the sun bake you.
I have never won a lottery.

I've only gone up the coast to Canada or as far as Bermuda on an ship so I guess I haven't "crossed an ocean" either. I have never tried country line dancing.

I did a few times 'back in the day' but country music is just not my thing, and neither is the smell of a beer hall.
I have never shimmied up a telephone pole.

Well, I've climbed a lot of trees when I was a kid, but I can honestly say I've never shimmied up a telephone pole either. I have never tried a Hawaiian Pizza - pineapple and ham on top of regular pizza,

I have never tried a Hawaiian Pizza - pineapple and ham on top of regular pizza One of my favorite pizzas and one of the best selling pizzas. Pineapple, ham, sausage, black olive, caramelized onions, grilled peppers, sliced tomatoes and basil, well done...Yum! Coincidentally had a Hawaiian pizza last night. I've never ridden a unicycle.

I have never tried water skiing.
I have never tried conch - I hear it's tasty, but it can be chewy if it's not done right.
