It is a garbage truck. Which word in the English language becomes shorter when it is lengthened? I'm coming up short. Which single syllable English word has the most letters?

Pnuemonoultramicroscopicsilicovolcano... has 19. ? I don't think that is a single syllable word. Nineteen syllables? I count 15 syllables. Perhaps you mean pneumonoultramicroscopicsilicovolcanoconiosis? I hope I spelled that right. LOL. By the way, it used to be that the longest word in the English language was assumed to be antidisestablishmentarianism. If you think about the current headlines, many people, including myself, would likely identify with antidisestablishmentarianism. I'm looking for a single syllable word.

By the twist of a thumb it’s controlled Guarding treasures within its hold Forever on end it dances ‘round Until time stops-only to be rewound.
